Pink News reports that a straight constable will be proudly leading gay police in Brighton tomorrow.
The interesting this for me is I think it’s absolutely brilliant, but I must admit there’s a residual part of me that gets a bit militant and wants only gay people in these parades. I’m not sure where that comes from, as actually I think inclusion is almost always better than segregation, and Pride should lead the way on that.
I’ll be going to the march tomorrow, celebrating my Brighton connections, and I look forward to seeing the parade. I was disappointed with London Pride’s separation of the parade and the marchers; I hope Brighton Pride lets us all mingle as we used to.
