I capture the castle

I read I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith today. It’s recently been made into a film, which I’ve not seen. The book is a good, light read. It’s the story of a girl and her family living in the country in the early half of the last century. The girl’s father wrote one great book years ago and now reads detective stories at every opportunity, her sister desperately wants to marry and her stepmother enjoys wandering naked outside at night. It’s very well written as a journal with all the time lapses and introspection that you get with journals. It’s all too fresh in my mind to make a real review of the book, but I recommended it if you’ve got a sunny Sunday to spare.
